California is located on the Pacific coast of the United States, California is the nation's third-largest state after Alaska and Texas and is the most populous state in the US. California has an extensive seacoast with a wide range of topographical features from sharp rock cliffs to expansive beaches. California is also home to the United States highest point being Mount Whitney with an elevation of 14,494 ft. Only 80 miles from the highest point in the US is the lowest point in the US being Death Valley which is 282 feet below sea level. California boast some of the most beautiful geographical regions in the US, the Sierra Nevada in the east, the Coast Ranges in the west, the Central Valley between them, and the Mojave and Colorado deserts to the southeast.
