The Department of Social Services (CDSS) manages the CalFresh program which helps to improve health and the well-being of qualified Californians by providing them a means to meet their nutritional needs. Calfresh is for people with low-income who meet federal income eligibility rules. The CalFresh Program which is federally known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP benefits), issues monthly benefits electronically that can be used to buy most foods at markets and other food stores.

To apply for Calfresh you will need to submit an application and documents to verify your situation, do an interview with your county and then your county will contact you within two weeks to verify your situation and tell you if you are missing any verification documents, If approved, you’ll get an EBT card with money for groceries within 30 days.
