The California Department of Consumer Affairs, Cemetery and Funeral (Bureau) licenses, manages, and examines protests against 13 distinctive permitting classifications in California, adding up to around 13,500 licensees. The permitting classifications incorporate memorial service foundations, burial service chiefs, embalmers, student embalmers, graveyard intermediaries/branch/extra, graveyard salespersons, incinerated remains disposers, crematories, crematory directors, burial ground administrators, and the almost 200 authorized private burial grounds in the State.
