California Public Employees Retirement System

The California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) is an organization in the California presidential branch that "oversees annuity and medical advantages for more than 1.6 million California public workers, retired folks, and their families". Conversation about accommodating the retirement of California state representatives started in 1921, yet just in 1930 did California electors favor an alteration to the State Constitution to permit annuities to be paid to state laborers, and just in 1931 was state law passed to build up a state specialist retirement plan. In 1932, the "Express Employees' Retirement System" (SERS) started activity. The California State Employees Association, set up in 1931, started a cozy relationship with SERS that proceeds right up 'til today.
